History Of London

London today is the centre of many things all at once. It’s a financial centre, a cultural centre, a population centre, the centralised home of political power. A great deal of the UK’s wealth and prosperity is concentrated in London. It’s a place people all around the world dream of visiting. London is unique in the sense that it has arguably always been a city, or at least a major population centre. It has been a large population settlement ever since its founding by the Romans in AD 43, and though it has gone through turbulent periods since, there have always been people in what we now call London. It has survived plague, fire, war and everything else, and has not only endured, but thrived. Today, London leads a double life as a place of work and play. Millions of people commute to London, and many more visit for its incredible, vibrant nightlife. Bars, pubs, clubs, restaurants and more – London has some of the best in the country.
